HOLON

HOLON proposes the ideas of Arthur Koestler from 1967's "The Ghost in the Machine", providing a series of self-reliant modules that use use a hierarchy scheme to subsidise the housing, creating sustainable and operable clusters.

Within Mayfield, there is a large problem with gentrification and affordability issues that do not align with the current or expanding demographic of the region. HOLON was a 4-person collaborative project that projected targeting these issues by using this structure. The model of HOLON uses subsidized blocks together as a community, rather than relying on the profitability of individuals, the profit of a community is taken a whole and distributed / shared between the whole, profit that would often sit at the top can now be sifted through the many.
